New Delhi. The CBI has arrested three police officers for taking a bribe of two lakh rupees. They include SHO SS Chahal and two constables of Vijay Vihar police station. As per sources the SHO allegedly demanded five lakh to solve a case related to property but later fixed it to two lakh.
As per CBI spokesperson RK Gaur, a man was getting a house build in Rohini’s Vijay Vihar police station area when another party tried claiming his property. On complaining the police, the SHO asked for a bribe through two constables from the victim for solving the case. He refused and reported the incident to the anti- corruption branch of CBI.
RK Gaur added that the matter was investigated and later a trap was set to arrest the culprits on spot. The CBI raided the station from where the culprits tried to abscond but were caught. The CBI also raided the houses of the three police officers and some papers have been recovered, the investigation for which is on.
As per police sources, as reported on Friday, a departmental enquiry in going on against the three officials and it has come to light that SS Chahal has a huge property. Money has been recovered from constables Jitendra and Badri but not from Chahal yet. The FIR was lodged against the SHO only and the constables were suspended.
