MOTIHARI: BACK TO BACK incidents of firing and murder in the district have put the district police to sever test. Even after six days the cold blooded murder of Nawal Kishor Prasad, a chemist at Balua Chawk in Motihari, the local police are clueless about the gunners and killers. Unbridled criminals reign in Motihari- the headquarter of East Champaran district.
Besides, Wednesday’s late evening shootout near Ramsharan Dwar at Chandmari has posed serious challenges before police. Gun wielding criminals shot at two youths namely Rakesh Mishra and Karan Gupta, who are now undergoing treatments in a private nursing home. Police however have claimed that it has identified one of the criminals involved in this firing.
The timing and modus operandi of this firing was similar to that of the killing of Balua Chemist. Balua based chemist was killed from close blank range while he was about to down his shutter at around 10 AM on June 6, 2020.
Both the incidents occurred in the district headquarter Motihari. Chemist shop was located in the busiest market while Ramsharan Dwar locality is in the proximity to Railway station. Criminals opted for late evening to execute their plan as the period generally lacks police patrolling.
The police are still grouping in dark about identity of the criminals involved in chemists killing as they failed to find any clue in the footage of CCTV camera installed in adjacent of crime scene. After incident, police found all cameras in the locality either laying non-functional or of low definition. The low definition cameras installed in the locality are not able to catch the image of criminals from a certain distance, the police said.
Town inspector Abhay Kumar told to ‘Border News Mirror’ that ‘we are still clue less in chemists murder case as neither family members nor neibhours of deceased has provided any leads as yet to initiate investigation but we are closely investigating the matter. He said about Wednesday’s shootout, they have identified the shooter, who shot at both the youths in Chandmari. Police said they have registered the offence on the statement of one Rakesh Mishra, one of injured.“ The police have detained some people and is interrogating them.” a official in Town Ps said adding they had filed case against unknown in chemist murder case on the statement of deceased family.
 Chain snatchers arrested “The CCTV footage caught the offence made viral on social media . In the footage, two criminals riding on a bike snatched chain from women on way to hospital road on the mid of bridge”
Motihari Police claimed to have arrested two chain snatchers involved in snatching the golden chain from Baluwa- over bridge few days ago. The police have recovered four chains from their possessions. The CCTV footage caught the offence made viral on social media. In the footage, two criminals riding on a bike seen snatching chain from women on way to hospital road on mid of the bridge.
Motihari SP Naveen Chandra Jha confirmed the arresting and recovery through a text massage. He said those arrested were identified as Munna Kumar 25 son of Gagandeo Singh, native of village Pachbhidwa in Sugauli and Saroj Kumar 21 son of Sanjeet Kumar Sinha at Dipahi under Chiraiya police station.
