Sushant’s last rites to be performed in Patna

Patna. A pall of gloom descended on Bihar, particularly state capital Patna, following the suicide by Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Stream of people were seen reaching Road No 6 of Rajiv Nagar here to console the bereaved family. Rajput’s father K K Singh, lives alone at Usha Singh House here following the demise of his wife some years back.

Singh, a retired DSP, was so shocked that he was not able to utter a single word. He was crying inconsolably even as close relatives, neighbours and friends tried to console him. Other family members including BJP MLA Neeraj Kumar Singh Bablu and his lawmaker wife Nootan Singh were among the first to reach there.

Chhatapur MLA Bablu, who is cousin of Rajput, said the body would be brought to Patna and most likely the last rites would be performed here.

One close relative said Rajput had called up his father Saturday night . He was the only son born after five sisters. 

Rajput visited his Patna house last on May 11, 2019 for a day. In his childhood he spent a good time in this house and studied at St Karen’s High School. During his last visit he also visited his ancestral village in Saharsa district and at a temple there he got his head shaved.

His relatives and neighbours refused to believe that Rajput, 34, committed suicide. One relative Anil Singh said, “The incident should be investigated. We can’t believe he committed suicide. He was not a person who would take his life.” 

Another relative claiming to be Rajput’s maternal uncle, suspected some foul play and alleged there could be some internal politics in Bollywood. “We suspect something happened to my nephew. He could not commit suicide. The matter should be thoroughly probed,” he demanded.
