The East Champaran police have ordered a probe after three accused arrested in a case involving the seizure of 80 kg of charas were released, raising questions over the investigation and prosecution in the matter.

The role of the then investigating officer (IO), the station house officer (SHO) of Sugauli police station and the prosecution officer will also be examined as part of the inquiry.

East Champaran superintendent of police Swarn Prabhat has constituted a three-member committee to investigate the case. The panel comprises the DSP (Headquarters), the cyber DSP and the Sadar SDPO.

According to police records, the alleged seizure was made on March 21, 2024, in the Sugauli police station area. An FIR (No. 123/24) was registered under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and three persons were arrested in connection with the case.
Given the large quantity of the contraband, the case was considered a serious instance of organised drug trafficking.

However, the matter came under scrutiny after the three accused were subsequently released by the court. Their release has triggered questions regarding the quality of the investigation and the handling of evidence.
Police sources said the quick release of the accused in a case involving such a large seizure points towards possible lapses in investigation or weak prosecution.
Preliminary inputs suggest that there may have been procedural shortcomings in the preparation of the seizure list, documentation of evidence and the case diary. It is also suspected that the prosecution may not have been able to present a strong case before the court.
The inquiry committee has been tasked with examining whether the seizure of 80 kg charas was properly documented, whether any irregularities occurred during the investigation process and whether negligence or possible collusion played a role in the release of the accused.

Officials said the panel will scrutinise all relevant documents, including the seizure memo, case diary and other evidence, and may question the officers associated with the investigation.
Based on the findings, departmental action, suspension or even the registration of a fresh case could be recommended against those found responsible.
Drug seizure cases in East Champaran have drawn controversy in the past as well, and the outcome of the latest inquiry is likely to be closely watched.

मोतिहारी। पटना हाईकोर्ट ने रक्सौल थाना कांड संख्या 332/2024 से जुड़े एनडीपीएस मामले में आरोपी अंकेश कुमार को जमानत दे दी है। यह आदेश माननीय न्यायमूर्ति चंद्रशेखर झा की एकल पीठ द्वारा 5 फरवरी 2026 को पारित किया गया।

बचाव पक्ष ने यह भी बताया कि सह-आरोपी शैलेन्द्र कुमार को पहले ही जमानत मिल चुकी है, इसलिए न्यायिक समानता के आधार पर आरोपी भी जमानत का हकदार है। पेटीशनर के अधिवक्ता विकास कुमार पंकज ने बताया कि उनके मुवक्किल को “प्लांटेड चरस” मामले में फंसाया गया है, जो ट्रायल के दौरान स्पष्ट होगा।

मोतिहारी। पूर्वी चंपारण जिले के पताही थाना क्षेत्र में घटी एक अमानवीय और दिल दहला देने वाली घटना ने पूरे समाज को झकझोर कर रख दिया है। बीती रात सो रही एक युवती के चेहरे पर अज्ञात व्यक्ति द्वारा एसिड फेंक दिया गया, जिससे वह बुरी तरह झुलस गई। यह जिला में इस तरह की पहली घटना बताई जा रही है, जिसने न केवल कानून-व्यवस्था बल्कि सामाजिक मानसिकता पर भी गंभीर प्रश्नचिह्न खड़े कर दिए हैं।

भारत-नेपाल सीमा से सटे पूर्वी चंपारण के ग्रामीण इलाकों में नैतिकता का संकट नए रूप में उभर रहा है। सीमावर्ती बाजारों में तेजी से फलते-फूलते तथाकथित रिसॉर्ट और फैमिली होटल अब असामाजिक गतिविधियों के अड्डे बनते जा रहे हैं।

इसी कड़ी में सोमवार को घोड़ासहन थाना पुलिस ने एक ऐसे रिसॉर्ट पर छापेमारी कर देह व्यापार के धंधे का खुलासा किया है।

गुप्त सूचना के आधार पर घोड़ासहन थानाध्यक्ष के नेतृत्व में  पुलिस टीम ने घोड़ासहन बाजार स्थित रॉयल लवली फैमिली रिसॉर्ट पर छापा मारा। पुलिस के पहुँचते ही वहां अफरातफरी मच गई। 

तलाशी के दौरान तीन पुरुष, दो युवतियाँ और एक महिला को संदिग्ध अवस्था में पकड़ा गया। इनमें एक युवक और एक युवती अवयस्क पाए गए।

जब पुलिस ने रिसॉर्ट के पंजियों की जांच की, तो आगंतुकों का कोई रजिस्ट्रेशन नहीं मिला। इससे साफ जाहिर होता है कि रिसॉर्ट का संचालन नियमों की अनदेखी कर गुप्त रूप से किया जा रहा था। 

पुलिस ने मौके से संचालक सुवोध पंडित, पिता स्व. लक्ष्मण पंडित, निवासी महादेवा, थाना घोड़ासहन, को तत्काल हिरासत में ले लिया।
बरामद सभी व्यक्तियों को थाने लाया गया है, जहां उनकी पूछताछ की जा रही है। 

प्रारंभिक जांच में यह बात सामने आई है कि रिसॉर्ट में लंबे समय से देह व्यापार और संदिग्ध गतिविधियाँ चल रही थीं।

पुलिस सूत्रों के मुताबिक, सीमावर्ती इलाकों में ऐसे कई होटल और लॉज आर्थिक आकर्षण के नाम पर युवतियों को फँसाकर अनैतिक कार्यों में धकेल देते हैं। नेपाल सीमा से लगे होने के कारण इन स्थलों पर निगरानी कठिन हो जाती है और तस्करी या अनैतिक व्यापार जैसी गतिविधियाँ आसानी से पनपने लगती हैं l

थानाध्यक्ष ने बताया कि संचालक के विरुद्ध प्राथमिकी दर्ज कर ली गई है तथा सभी संबंधों की कानूनी जांच की जा रही है। साथ ही आसपास के अन्य रिसॉर्ट और लॉज पर भी पुलिस अब सघन जांच अभियान चलाएगी।

यह कार्रवाई सिर्फ एक रिसॉर्ट का मामला नहीं, बल्कि गिरती सामाजिक और नैतिक मूल्यों पर करारा सवाल है।
