New Delhi (June 18) : National Executive of Bharti Shramjeevi Patrakar Sangh (BSPS) met on Sunday through Google meet under the chairmanship of National President Sanjay Singh. The meeting was moderated and conducted by Shahnawaz Hasan- National General Secretary BSPS .
Various issues which include Digital Media Act, railway concession of journalists, safety of journalists, journalist health insurance, national conference of BSPS and its financial strength to the organization were discussed and decided in the meeting.
It is decided that a BSPS delegation led by national president Sanjay Singh will meet Union Communications Minister Anurag Thakur to seek amendments and implementation of the Digital Media Act. Issues like journalist safety law, railway concession, exemption for journalists in toll tax, journalist health insurance were also discussed.
A memorandum will be submitted to the leadership of all political parties to implement the Journalists Protection Act at the national level and it will be proposed to be included in the manifesto for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
A one-day conference will be organized by the Bihar unit of BSPS in Purnia district in July this year, a one-day conference by Delhi NCR state unit on August 25 and a conference by BSPS Madhya Pradesh unit in September are announced to be organized.
The BSPS has taken serious note of the demand for action against those who expose fake news and half-truth, for which BSPS supports the implementation of strict laws at the state level.
Approval was given to start lifetime membership of BSPS (for 20 years), associate membership and corporate membership after members stressed needs for financial strength of association.
National Secretary Jitendra Pandey, Shool Pani Singh, Delhi NCR State Unit President Rakesh Kumar Singh, Co-Convenor Amit Gandhi, Shrikant Bhatia, Madhya Pradesh Unit President Dr. Navin Anand Joshi, General Secretary Mahendra Sharma, Arun Saxena, Chhattisgarh State Unit President Nitin Choubey, Sukhnandan Banjare, Gangesh Dwivedi, Tamil Nadu Unit Vice President Christopher Das, Bihar unit president Nand Kishore Kumar, Sagar Suraj, Pankaj Nayak, Jharkhand unit president Amarkant joined among others.
