MOTIHARI : After UP, now bulldozer has started trending in Bihar as well. This time a historic action by Motihari police has made it to the front page of newspapers.
In a bold move to tackle crime, the police in East Champaran district of Bihar, led by SP Swarn Prabhat, took bulldozer action against around 100 absconding criminals on Tuesday.
The police, equipped with JCBs, demolished the houses of these criminals, who had failed to surrender despite receiving notices.
Panic among criminals is so severe that as soon as police reach their respective houses, many accused surrendered before court, and more than two dozen warranty have surrendered so far, SP said.
The police action has left the criminals in a state of panic.
Notably, the operation is part of a campaign aimed at attaching and confiscating properties of absconding criminals.
All 50 police station in-charges, circle inspectors, and DSPs are involved in this campaign, SP said.
SP said, "All the 100 absconders whose houses were earmarked for actions has also been served notices to surrender within a time frame".
This move by the police is seen as a significant step towards tackling crime and ensuring that those who break the law face the consequences.
