MOTIHARI: RPF inspector Pankaj Gupta's case gained momentum after East Champaran's Superintendent of Police (SP) Swarn Prabhat slapped a show cause notice to Station house officer (SHO) town on Wednesday.
Piqued over 'Inordinate Delay' in arresting the absconding railway inspector, SP served this showcause asking the reason behind delay in arresting inspector Gupta.
A shocking incident unfolded in Motihari a few days ago, where the residence of RPF Inspector Pankaj Gupta was raided by the town police under Cyber DSP's leadership. The raid uncovered a substantial amount of foreign liquor, totaling 16 liters, and Rs 94,000 in cash. Dozens of empty liquor bottles were also found outside the residence of Gupta. However, Inspector Gupta allegedly fled the scene before the raiding team arrived.
The police have seized the recovered items and initiated an investigation. Despite efforts to catch the erring inspector, he remains at large 48 hours after the incident. This led East Champaran's Superintendent of Police, Swarn Prabhat, to issue a show-cause notice to the town inspector, citing the reason "inordinate delay" in arresting Gupta. SP also directed the town inspector to obtain a warrant from the Motihari court against the absconding railway inspector.
- Liquor Recovered: 22 bottles of foreign liquor, totaling 16 liters
- Cash Recovered: Rs 94,000 Empty
- Liquor Bottles: Dozens found outside the residence
The incident raises questions about the effectiveness of town police's efforts to apprehend Gupta. Will the issuance of a warrant and show-cause notice lead to his eventual capture ? .
Whether town inspector is under scanner of SP for allegedly providing safe passage fleeing RPF inspector from scene or this show- cause is just a tactical adminsitartive move to maount pressure to act on officers ? . The questions are still floating in the air.
