Supreme Court refuses to hear plea filed against Manish Sisodia's arrest

Rouse Avenue Court sent Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia to CBI custody till March 4 in the Delhi Excise scam case. This order was given by Special Judge MK Nagpal. Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on February 26 after nearly eight hours of questioning.


NEW DELHI : The Supreme Court has refused to hear a petition filed against the arrest of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, arrested in the Delhi Excise scam case. A bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said that the matter is of Delhi, it does not mean that you will directly come to the Supreme Court. You should try alternative legal remedies. If you want, you can also go to the High Court.
On behalf of Sisodia, advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi told the court that listen to me for a while as to how this matter comes under section 32. Why have I come directly to the Supreme Court. Singhvi cited five decisions of the Supreme Court. Singhvi cited the example of Vinod Dua case. Then the Chief Justice said that both the cases are of different nature. Both cannot be compared.


This morning, on behalf of Manish Sisodia, Abhishek Manu Singhvi demanded a hearing on the matter. After which the court had ordered the hearing later this afternoon.


On February 27, the Rouse Avenue Court sent Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia to CBI custody till March 4 in the Delhi Excise scam case. This order was given by Special Judge MK Nagpal.
