Macabre Tales of Motihari Police, Women spent sleepless night to save her modesty in a police lockup with male persons

MOTIHARI : In a macabre tale of Motihari police’s blood curdling highhandedness, a 34 year old woman was forced to spend the whole night in a single room of police lockup along with more than half a dozen criminals on Monday.

All this happened in a so-called “Adarsh police station” in Harsidhi in East Champaran district and the fault of the lady is only to save her land from cruel clutches of local realtors allegedly active under local police protections in the localities.

‘BNM’ has access to a video shot in a police lock up room of Harsiddhi police station that goes viral on social media in which a woman is seen present among notorious criminals in grievously injured and battered condition.

 Her husband Upendra Singh alleged “her modesty was virtually outraged as she was disrobed at the time she was beaten up on her hip and has to spend more than 24 hours in a police lock up room with male persons.

Sending a letter to various women rights’ organizations and other state high ups, he alleged “SHO Mahendra Prasad deliberately did all this only to appease his enemies who were illegally trying to grab his land with help of local police.

 She was thrashed repeatedly by men and women in uniform in police custody in presence of these criminals. And finally she was sent to jail framing her in an alleged case of “fake and concocted story” that she attacked on a police team.

“Can a lone woman attack an armed police team. All that is fake and concocted”, letters read adding when SHO sensed he will be framed in court complaint case for his highhandedness he framed her in this fake case, Upendra added.

This is not the first time, when she was sent to jail by the same police. She was sent a few months ago in jail and allegedly allowed a second party to encroach upon the land in dispute behind her.

The second parties again beat her up black and blue after she was bailed out. SHO however filed this FIR on the statement of Rima but no action taken as yet. Continued Police persecution on helpless women only to benefit local real-estate mafias has raised annoyance among locals.

An audio conversation between Upendra and a local village police which BNM accessed is a strong testimony of SHO’s involvement in land grabbing allegations. Another video that went viral depicts how Rima was being beaten up by grabbers. When Asked even being arrested, why the man seen in video beating up Rima Devi got let off and Rima Devi was sent to jail, SHO preferred to remain silent.

Matter was intimated to SP,DIG and other related high up that ended up with the assurance of proper inquiries. And all the agony and police brutalities of women was recorded by a judicial officer on duty at the time of her remand.
