ASI Yadav- arrested on the instruction of superintendent of police of East Champaran district Swarn Prabhat after he was accused of protecting a member of international gang of drugs paddler Aslam Mia- a resident of Sirisiya Mal village located along no-men’s land of Indo-Nepal border and violating total liquor ban in Bihar.
SP Prabhat said, “Guilty officer was arrested and sent to jail after his viral video of consuming liquor and realizing money was verified and his connection with a drug paddlers Md Aslam was established. Drugs smugglers Aslam have also been nabbed.
A press note issued by the district police headquarter reads that SP ordered inquiry of Viral video and asked deputy superintendent of police (DSP), Raxaul Dhirendra Kumar to inquire into consuming liquor and realizing money seen in the video.
Video verified and found that the cop in question had taken liquor at the house of Md Aslam in lieu of co-operating in a police diary in a drugs smuggling case. Alam is carrying over half a dozen criminal cases, most of them under NDPS act.
“On the instruction of SP, bordering police laid a trap with the help of SHOs of five adjoining police stations and finally zeroed in Md Aslam with recovering 918 gram Charas and 214 gram brown sugar from his possession and thousands of Nepali and Indian currencies were also seized from him”, police said.
When Aslam was grilled by police, Aslam was found to be a notorious drugs mafia active on the Indo-Nepal border for a long time and on his revelation, ASI Yadav was arrested and both were sent to judicial custody. Arrested ASI also admitted all things before DSP. Police action raised hopes of true and proper policing in the district.
Notably, even in highly industrialized societies, human rights abuses, police brutality, police malfeasance, and police corruption and criminality still exist and hinder the credibility of police departments when exposed.
