MOTIHARI: Remembering George Orwell” a discussion session organised on 25th June 2021 by the Department of Educational Studies, School of Education, Mahatma Gandhi Central University (MGCU) as the department celebrated the 118th Birth Anniversary of George Orwell.

The programme began with the introductory note of Prof. Asheesh Srivastava, Head and Dean, Department of Educational Studies MGCU  where he shared his thoughts and views on the life of George Orwell. He mentioned that it is a matter of Pride for all of us that Such a Classic writer was born in Motihari Champaran and this is our moral responsibility to make our upcoming generation and students aware about the writings and life of George Orwell.

He mentioned that Orwell was his pen name by which he is famously known, his original name is Eric Aurther Blair. Further Prof. mentioned that he has been working in this field and has been constantly in touch with his son Richard Blair, Prof. Jean Stone (Director, Orwell Foundation University College of London, Britain), Jeremy weekly (Program Manager Orwell Foundation) Quintin Koff (Director, Orwell Society).

Vice Chancellor, MGCU, Prof Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, shared his insights on the life of George Orwell and how much he is celebrated even now because of his classic masterpieces like Animal Farm and 1984..

Pro- VC MGCU, Prof. G. Gopal Reddy also shared his experiences and insights on the life and literary works of Orwell. Also he emphasized on how much the day 25th June  is important in the Indian history. for your gracious presence which made this event a successful one.

Further the discussion session was followed by the presentation “Remembering George Orwell” by  Astik Mishra, M.Phil. Research Scholar, DoES, SoE, MGCU under the guidance of Prof Asheesh Srivastava, Head and Dean, Department of Educational Studies, School of Education, Mahatma Gandhi Central University, where he wonderfully described about the life and literary works of George Orwell.

The programme was then followed by formal Vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Pathloth Omkar, Assistant Professor, Department of Educational Studies, School of Education, Mahatma Gandhi Central University. 

Programme was hosted and managed by Suprabha Dey, Ph.D Research Scholar, Department of Educational Studies, School of Education, Mahatma Gandhi Central University.

Many guests professors and scholars from other Universities also took were present in the Discussion session. And the programme was  made successful with the presence of one and all.
