SP Axe likely to fall on Motihari cop facing corruption charge

MOTIHARI: The Axe of departmental action is likely to fall on a sub-inspector Md Sharukh posted in Chhatauni Police station in Motihari. Superintendent of  Police (East CHamparan) Kantesh Kumar Misahra ordered a probe in the viral video in which Md Shahrukh is alleged to have been intercepted in full public view by a local for refund of a “graft money” that was allegedly accepted by him to benefit a rape accused.

This came after BNM carried the story on its newspaper’s “Re-supervisor” column and YouTube channel prompting Motihari SP to ask additional superintendent of police (ASP) cum deputy superintendent of police, Raxaul to thoroughly inquire into the issues behind the viral video.

Acting upon SP’s order IPS Chandraparakash is reported to have recorded the statements of victim Rahul Singh kin’s on Sunday  in a Motihari police office and office reader of DSP, Raxaul taken detail statements of Rahul Singh – a resident of Bhawanipur Zilat locality in Motihari on phone. 

Sources placed in Raxaul DSP office told BNM that on office reader’s mobile phone Rahul Singh refused to present physically before police for recording of  his statement as Md Shahrukh has already filed an FIR accusing him on the matter of questioned ‘viral video’. Singh however, clearly unfolded Cop’s alleged corruption issues citing as many as five  instances in which the Sub-inspector has realized the “Graft Money’ to benefit accused persons.

In a written application sent to all top brass in Bihar’s police, Rahul Singh alleged that through him Md Shahrukh has realized money in many cases in local park hotel and in the same sequel, he realized Rs 5000 to benefit Lukky-one of the accused in a rape case. “When Shahrukh remanded lucky in the rape case, he asked him to refund the money what he taken from him to benefit the accused” said Rahul quoted as saying.

He got the video recorded only as a testimony of the incident to defence in the case, if any, he said.

When contacted to comment on the issues, ASP Chandraprakash, refused to share anything regarding inquiry saying once inquiry reports are submitted before SP, media will itself become aware of the fact.  

Md Shahrukh did not appear with his defence on allegations leveled against him in the stipulated time frame given him on whatsapp message on his official mobile number.
