Congress to form new government In Manipur

Imphal.  Bharatiya Janata Party government in Manipur was set to collapse after 9 MLAs resigned from the government including Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar Singh and Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayanta Kumar Singh. The State Legislative Assembly has total 60 seats out of which 28 is with Congress, 21 with BJP, 4 Naga People’s Front, 4 National People’s Party,and one each with Lok Janshakti Party,Triamool Congress and Independent candidate.  Spokeperson of Congress Ningombam Bupenda Meitei told the media that they had support of 36 MLAs and were in a position to form the government . He  told that political change in Manipur will lead to the beginning of downfall of BJP in the country. Congress leaders were also planning to meet Governor Najma Heptullah to form the new government in the state.  In his speech, Meitei said, “Today is the new beginning of India and new sunrise for Manipur. Three MLAs resigned from BJP and joined Congress while 4 National People’s Party MLAs had pledged to support Congress in forming the new government. With the support of alliance, Congress can now easily form the government in Manipur. Senior party Leader and former chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh will replace Chief Minister N Biren Singh in the state.  Sudden change in the political scenario of Manipur has created a choas in the BJP as they would lose both Rajya Sabha seat and the government in the state. Voting for Rajya Sabha seat will take place on June 19. Titular King Leisemba Sanajoaba is the BJP candidate while T Mangi Babu is the Congress candidate . Congress is looking to win the seat of Manipur as to cover one that it is losing Gujarat. It would be a great shock for the BJP as the BJP has majority in the Lok Sabha but not in the Rajya Sabha. Losing Manipur will lead to difficulty in passing any bill in the Rajya Sabha .
